Our Story


Margaret and Mikey held a lifelong dream to run a bistro, and in August 2020 they made their dreams come true when they opened Dukes Bar and Bistro in the heart of Ainsdale Village. In the midst of a pandemic this was a huge risk, and a lot of hard work ensued building their team and evolving with the ever changing restrictions and hospitality environment. 


In June 2021 our innovative chef Darren joined the team and completely revolutionised our approach to food. With his quirky style and passion for cooking he introduced a small plates menu to showcase his culinary expertise. It was so successful it has become a permanent feature at Dukes. Darren introduces a new small plates menu every fortnight so that we are always offering new, exciting and seasonal dishes to tickle your tastebuds. 


In March 2022 we underwent a complete renovation. The interior was completely revamped, and modernised. More tables were added, and a larger kitchen to enable us to better serve our customers. At the same time we updated our breakfast and lunch menus and introduced an evening menu to go alongside our small plates menu. We are now able to offer food from 9am - 8pm. We also introduced a traditional Sunday roast dinner which has quickly become a favourite with all of our customers.


Dukes also has a beautiful function room that can accommodate up to 80 people. It is the only venue in Ainsdale village that has a lift so we can cater for anybody with mobility issues. We hold various events in this room throughout the year and it is also available for private hire for your special occasions. 


Dukes can cater for everything from evening drinks, to a Sunday roast or for your most special private events, our team are eager to welcome you!
